What do our clients say?...
Having spent three days on a HML assessment with Peak Mountain Training, I can thoroughly recommend the course and the company. The assessment was comprehensive, supported and completed in a variety of terrains and weather conditions. The staff were relaxed and professional throughout, which ensured I was able to produce a confident performance without feeling too nervous.

I approached several guides/private guiding companies with a view to increasing my skills and competence on committing multi pitch terrain. Dave Hollinger was by far the most passionate and empathetic to my goals. What started off as a project to boost my rock climbing ended up being a carefully crafted overhaul of both my summer and winter climbing on the cliffs of Cloggy, Gogarth, the Cairngorms and Cogne. Over a period of four months, my time spent with Dave has given me the confidence to take on routes that last year I could only dream about. The emphasis on learning and survivability felt core to everything we did. I would highly recommend private mentoring with Dave Hollinger to anyone who is keen to enhance their ability and independence in any aspect of climbing.

Through the process of my ML and MIA I felt I generally had a good network of friends and contacts to get all the necessary advice. But it became all too clear that the problem solving and rescue element of the MIA was a significant weak spot. Despite all my practice sessions rescuing my own rucksack I realised I needed to call on the very thorough and organised James Thacker. He lived up to his reputation and put me through my paces at Wildcat. He patiently helped me realise I wasn’t as bad as I thought as we rattled through a series of ‘situations’. In that one day he gave me just the input I needed to get me through my assessment. Time and money well spent from my point of view.

The [Turbo SPA] course has definitely made me think differently about how to use the skills learned during my SPA. It was good to see how you progressed through the skills a client could be taught in a stepwise manner without giving them information overload on the way to leading with top rope protection. These are all skills I hope I can put into practice as soon as I can.

As a trainee MIC preparing for my assessment I found it very valuable to spend two days out on the hill with [James] shadowing me with real clients on a winter mountaineering course. It was great to benefit with the vast experience that you have of working in Scotland in winter. Your encouragement, insistence on high standards and attention to detail stood me in great stead for my assessment which had the outcome I wanted! I would recommend your services to anyone looking to prepare for assessment.

Just a quick email to say I had a great day on yesterdays Turbo SPA course. It shone a much brighter light on the grey area of 'teaching to lead, but not'. James managed to keep the pace going regardless of conditions.
Chris, Turbo SPA
Just wanted to say many, many thanks for a fantastic weekend even though it's Wednesday and am only just about recovering now. It was extremely well led and I learnt loads as well as having a very worthwhile time. I Will certainly recommend you to all. Thanks again for an excellent course!!
Alex, Walking Group Leader Assessment
The ML Expedition with Neil was a fantastic experience and a great opportunity to take what I had learnt in my first few days to put into practice in the mountains. In short, a great course, run by friendly and inspirational people. I will be recommending Peak Mountain Training for fellow students wishing to do there ML Training and the Assessment.
Fiona, Mountain Leader Training
Thank you for all your support with this group. I hope that you both had two productive days. The feedback I have had has been extremely positive.

Despite being battered by the wind and then spanked by that VS, I really enjoyed the day. As well as taking away some interesting ideas, it is, as one of the others commented, just nice to be out with other like minded people. It also made me realise that I need to be a fair bit quicker and slicker in general if I intend to go after an MIA. Anyway, thanks for the day and don't be surprised if I turn up on one of your improvised rescue [workshop] next year.
